Deer Valley Farm Located 35 miles west of Concord, in Bradford, New Hampshire, Deer Valley Farm is the breeding site of Missouri Fox Trotters and Border Collies. The farm is nestled between several mountains and has approximately 15 acres of cleared land bounded by rock walls. Other great features on the property are three ponds jumping with brook trout, majestic rock ledges, and a small, beautiful waterfall. The Missouri Fox Trotter is the chosen breed at Deer Valley Farm for their great temperament and smooth gait. Personally, the Missouri Fox Trotter is the first horse I have ridden that has not aggravated my back problems. Sure-footed, smooth riding, versatile, and with a reliable mount, Missouri Fox Trotters have four natural gaits: the flat-footed-walk, trail walk, fox trot, and canter. Their size ranges from 14 to 16 hands, and their motion is horizontal and forward moving, allowing the rider to move without bounce or compression of the spine. The Missouri Fox Trotter is truly the Rolls Royce of pleasure horses. It is often said that to ride a Missouri Fox Trotter is to own one. The Missouri Fox Trotter was developed to have incredible stamina for carrying heavy loads, smoothly and quickly, over rugged terrain. Missouri Fox Trotters were the choice of western doctors to pull their carriages while making rounds, and the favorite of sheriffs who needed lively horses that could go all day without having to change the mount frequently.
